Welcome to StudyEcho (“we”, “our”, or “us”). By using the StudyEcho app (“App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

StudyEcho is a study timer and reflection tool designed to help you learn more effectively.

You agree to use the App only for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes, and not to:

Use the App for illegal or abusive purposes
Upload content that violates third-party rights
Reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the App or its systems

2. Ownership and Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of any study sessions, reflections, and notes you create.

By using the App, you grant us a temporary license to process your reflection text through Anthropic Claude, our AI service, solely for analyzing your reflections and generating study summaries. This processing happens in real-time and we do not store your content on our servers.

All other content in the App (code, assets, styles, etc.) is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, distribute, or reuse any part of the App.

3. AI-Powered Features

StudyEcho uses Anthropic Claude, an AI service, to analyze your study reflections and provide summaries, topic identification, and study suggestions.

AI analysis is a core feature of the app and cannot be disabled. The AI-generated content is for educational purposes and should be reviewed by you. Results may not always be perfect, and the AI does not replace your own judgment.

Voice recordings are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to any server.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

StudyEcho is a subscription-based app.

New users who subscribe to the weekly plan receive one week free
A subscription is required to access all features
Subscriptions are billed via Apple’s App Store
Your Apple ID will be charged at confirmation of purchase
Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
You can manage or cancel your subscription in App Store account settings
All payments and refunds are handled by Apple, not us
We do not collect or store any payment details

5. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains:

How your study data is stored on your device and synced via iCloud
How voice reflections are processed on your device
How reflection text is analyzed by AI
What analytics or crash data we collect
That no personally identifiable information is stored or shared

6. iCloud Sync

StudyEcho syncs your study data across your devices via your personal iCloud account.

Syncing requires an active iCloud account
We do not have access to your iCloud data
You can disable iCloud sync in your device settings

7. Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

8. Acceptable Use

StudyEcho is designed for personal educational use only.

You may not:

Use the App for commercial purposes
Share your subscription with others
Use the App to store illegal or inappropriate content

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.

We are not responsible for:

Accuracy or quality of AI-generated content
Loss of study data
Bugs, service interruptions, or outages
Any indirect or incidental damages
Academic outcomes or exam performance

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms or misuse the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. By continuing to use the App after any update, you agree to the new version. The latest Terms will always be available in the App or on our website.
